3-19-20 Coronavirus: Million Gallons charity to help unemployed restaurant workers

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) Soup is like a hug.  It’s so true, and it’s the sentiment behind Million Gallons, a grassroots charity that’s taking shape as the coronavirus crisis heightens in the metro area.

It’s the brainchild of chef Eric Korn, Executive Chef at Monteverde at Old Stone in Cortlandt, New York and restauranteur Louie Lanza, who’ve have set a goal to cook 1 million gallons of soup to provide to food industry workers.  The initiative is seeking other local chefs to take the ingredients in their restaurants and cook soup for the restaurant workers who have lost their jobs due to layoffs amid coronavirus concerns.
